Breaking: Jonghyun of SHINee was found dead

Jonghyun
The 27 year old lead singer of the K-Pop Boyband SHINee was found dead on Monday evening, December 18, 2017,  in his apartment in Cheongdam-dong in the Gangnam district in Seoul. Jonghyun was reportedly lying in a room with a coal briquette burning on a frying pan, a common method of suicide in South Korea. Coal briquettes releases carbon monoxide.

His sister made an initial call to emergency respondents at 4:42 pm saying that she believed her brother committed suicide. The police said that Jonghyun texted his sister that says "I've had a hard time. Please let me go and say that I did a good job. This is my last word," which they believe that it was a suicide note.

SHINee, a five member boy band, was formed in 2008 by SM Entertainment. It was known as one of the most skillful boybands in terms of vocals and choreo, and was hugely popular and influential both in music and fashion.

The world of Korean celebrity is notoriously high-pressure. On one hand, performers are tightly managed by their agencies. On the other, they are often held to absurdly high standards of behavior and are subject to blistering social media commentary.

Aspiring stars are pushed through the grinder of one of the most vicious entertainment industries in the world, starting when they’re kids. Children as young as ten years old get locked into unbreakable decade-long contracts, spending their better part of their lives owned by agencies that take advantage of them creatively and sexually.

You never know what a person goes through everyday. Every person is fighting a battle we don’t see so please be kind to everyone.
